Adventure on the Sea

 This is 26

So just one month ago I turned 26. I feel like I just graduated high school 2 years ago not 8.

And life now is nothing like what teenage Anastasia thought 26 would be like AT ALL. I am still in undergrad (almost done though), single with no chance of that changing soon, I live at home, and haven’t really had any life experience. But if I could choose a path for my life to have taken I would choose this one.  Just last week I boarded my first international flight to Greece by way of Germany to study abroad. I am enjoying life and all that comes with it and well whoever told you they had life figured out by their mid 20s either lied through their teeth or need to write a book to all of us 20 somethings failing epically.

Although I have my “woe is me” moments, overall when I think about how my life looks to me, I am not doing bad. I finally know what I want to do with my life (kind of…I have an idea at least) I do still live at home but it is better for me to do school and not stress about rent than to live alone and have that stress too. I am not opposed to getting a mortgage though (27?).  I have no children so I can literally go where I want to (money and school schedule permitting) and nothing can stop me. Most of my classmates and friends no longer have that freedom and to each their own but I wouldn’t trade my life for the world right now. Maybe in a few years.

As I mentioned earlier I have been in Greece for the last week. Currently we are in Delphi, just yesterday we had been in Santorini for about 3 days and before that we were on Aegina and before that Athens. Tomorrow we are going to Nafplio, I think.

It has been a busy 10 days full of adventure, but my favorite thus far has been our trip to Athens from Aegina by sailboat…yes sailboat.

Let me give you a bit of the backstory…

The original plan was to go by ferry to Athens because we were flying to Santorini from there. Well, just before we left the states we got an email saying that the ferry boat drivers were on strike…um why? I don’t really know why they were striking but that would definitely prevent us from getting to Santorini so our professor has a friend with a boat and he was able to bring us to Athens. His name is Christos (he’s cute lol) and he literally had a sailboat to bring us over on so we had to be at the dock for 6 am and our bags were on another boat because they didn’t fit on the boat with us.

Well first it was freezing but I was pretty excited about being on an actual boat for the first time. Apparently on a boat the water tends to spill over the sides. Thankfully I was on the side that the water wasn’t pouring over the sides on, but the other side got soaked. We all ended up huddled on one side of the boat freezing and laughing. Overall it was really fun. We made it to Athens 2 hours later with a new found appreciation for land and a new found respect for the sea.(Which tastes very salty btw.)

The best part hands down was watching the sunrise on the Mediterranean Sea. sunrise on the Mediterranean

It was beautiful and words nor pictures do it justice but I will still post a picture or two because it is still unbelievably amazing. God was showing off extra that morning. He said he likes to show off for me. He loves me. 😍😍 sunrise on the Mediterranean2.jpg(shout out to one of my classmates making the shot look like it should be in picture frame at the store lol)
