Fun Fact Challenge: Week 3

Fun Fact 3: My Absolute Favorite movie is The Wizard of Oz.

I think the first time I saw it I was maybe six or seven and I was annoyed because it wasn’t in color. I asked my mom why it wasn’t and she said wait until they go over the rainbow. I didn’t know what that meant.

Then the tornado happened. And…”the wind began to switch, house began to twitch, and suddenly the hinges started to unhitch…”๐ŸŽถ

I was in love.

I had never seen anything like it before. The singing, the dancing, the excitement, the yellow brick road and the ruby slippers… Dorothy and Toto had found their way into my heart. Pretty soon I was singing along. I wanted to follow the yellow brick road to the Emerald City. Then I wanted to come back to the beginning and follow the red brick road to see where it lead too (there’s that adventurer in me lol) Tbh, I was kind of disappointed the first time I witnessed a tornado after we moved to the Midwest and it didn’t take me over the rainbow. Then I saw the destruction of one and realized that was a good thing (growing up with only hurricanes and no tornado experience does that).

I saw The Wiz. I even liked it. It has MJ, are you kidding me?! Anything with him is ok in my book, I adore him (bonus fact). But nothing can change my mind about the Wizard of Oz being the best of the two. I absolutely love that movie. I mean come on, who wouldn’t want to live in the Emerald City and have a horse of a different color?? (That thing was cool!)

I’ve even read the books and while they aren’t exactly like the movie, ok they aren’t really like it at all, I still love the movie. But, The Wizard of Oz introduced me to my love of musicals and classic movies that only continues to grow. For that reason alone I will alway love it and be grateful for it’s existence and I can’t wait to share this love with my one day children.

What’s your favorite movie? I’d love to know. Maybe I’ve seen it.
