It’s Christmas! One of my absolute favorite holidays. This year for the first time in a few years now I was actually really excited for the holiday season. It’s been a good day. A relaxing day. A needed one.
More than that though, this year I really have been able to sit down and reflect on all that my this year has held and all that is to come. I was listening to Christmas music the other day while I was writing and You’re Here by Francesca Battistelli came on. It’s such a beautiful song, and to listen to the lyrics it’s like putting yourself in Mary and Joseph’s shoes.
Hold on now gotta take a deep breath
I don’t know what to say when I look in your eyes
You made the world before I was born
But here I am holding you in your arms tonight

God with us Emmanuel
You’re here, I’m holding you so near
I’m staring into the face of my Savior,
King and Creator
You could have left us on our own
But you’re here…
“You’re here” by Francesca Battistelli
They had the terrifying and amazing and humbling experience of being the parents to their Savior. Our Savior. They got to watch Him grow up and come into his power. Can you imagine?
So, on this day set aside to celebrate the birth of my Savior all I really feel is grateful, humbled and to be honest unworthy.
Jesus didn’t have to come here but He did. “The word was made flesh…” (1John 1:14). He came to save us even as we continually turn away from Him. He came in the most humble and unassuming way possible. He came as a newborn baby to two teenagers who simply trusted God and said ok. What a level of faith to aspire to? #goals
The overwhelming feeling that comes with the realization that that little baby grew up and willingly went to the cross and died for my sins so that I wouldn’t have to.
And I am really grateful that He did.
Happy birthday Jesus. 💕 I love you.
