Owning my Everyday

So as you know I started a new list of books to read this year and the first book if the new year I read was Own Your Everyday by Jordan Lee Dooley.

At first I wasn’t sure I chose the right book to start the year off, but as I read and got more into it, I realized that this book was perfect. It read like a conversation, like we were at brunch sipping bottomless mimosas and talking about life.

The fact that she’s so close to my age made me like it that much more. Granted coming off the high of reading a book as amazing as The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho, I have to say there was a slight disadvantage. But this book was easy to read and it was very encouraging. There was one part at the end that really stuck with me. It stuck with me to the point that I screenshot the section and saved it to my photos (score 1 for ebooks even though real ones still win lol). There was one particular line where she wrote:

I’ll share my story even before I get to the happy ending.

Jordan Lee Dooley “Own Your Everyday”

This line struck a deep cord because it confirmed so many things at one time. It literally spoke to my everyday. I haven’t yet gotten to my happy ending but I am gaining the courage to share my story and say out loud what I am trusting God for. Not just writing them down and keeping them to myself.

So, overall I will say I definitely recommend this book. It doesn’t give as much practical advice, but to be honest I didn’t expect it to. She merely used herself and her experience as an example to let any woman going through a transition, that she’s been there and it does get better. Not in a fairytale way but in a real and honest way.

What books are on your 2020 reading list. I just finished book 2 so I’ll post about it next week. ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ’œ๐Ÿ’›๐Ÿ“š
