We are BLACK WOMEN!….. We have a VOICE ……We don’t tear down other BLACK WOMEN!….. We have felt the pain of NOT BEING HEARD and we have decided we will be deliberate about building others! All too often, we women find it easier to criticize each other, instead of building each other up. With all the negativity going around let’s do something positive!!🌟 Upload 1 picture of yourself…. ONLY you. Then tag as many sisters to do the same. Let’s build ourselves up, instead of tearing ourselves down. 💜💛 COPY AND PASTE 💜💛
So, I posted the above on Instagram and since my Facebook is linked to my Instagram it also posted there. Well, one of my friends from Missouri posted below it that this is true of all women it doesn’t matter the color…
Um, ok great 👌🏽
This is true, but I can’t speak from any perspective except a black woman’s perspective. I understand that there is a big disconnect between my experiences as a black woman and my friends and family from Missouri’s experiences. I know we have different world views. I saw how much it burned some of them up inside when Barack Obama became president. He wasn’t perfect, still isn’t, but you can’t tell me he wasn’t a better leader than the one we have now…but I digress…
It’s OK if you don’t agree with my statements. I don’t mind if you unfollow me but please don’t minimize or try to generalize my statement.
I said what I said.
I am a black woman.
I think what was the most bothersome of the comment is the fact that even if I had chosen to respond it wouldn’t have made a difference…all I can do is pray that this person and anyone else that thinks this way sees that my statement wasn’t to set me apart from other women, it was and is a statement of who I am. Yes, there are strong women of all races but strength comes in different forms and the strength of a bkack woman differs from the strength of an indigenous woman or Hispanic woman or even a white woman. We are all strong but in certain circumstances that level of strength will differ, and that’s ok. It’s how God made us. He gave his children strengths that compliment each other’s. When one of us is struggling the others may not be… so let’s embrace the season where the strength of black women and men is struggling a bit. Yes, we are strong and resilient, but even the strong friend needs help sometimes.
To my non black friends and family who are supportive and loving and understanding…thank you.
To those who are silent…I don’t know your reasoning and if I’m honest, it kind of hurts but I forgive you.
To those who don’t understand…if you just listen, or even ask, you might begin to…
And to those who chose to not listen or understand, I pray that in due time you do, if not, well, God loves you so I will too…just don’t expect our friendship to be the same…
Jesus called us the light of the world. Let’s be that light. Even in the darkness. 💜💛💜💛
