What book made you fall in love with reading?
I was scrolling though instagram when I saw this question. It was an ad for a reading app or something but the question made me pause.
I wasn’t sure. I mean I could easily say the Bible and it be completely true. But when I was a kid there weren’t many books I wanted to read. I liked to read but rarely did I read for fun. Then when I was in 3rd or 4th grade I was placed in gifted and talented.
We had to read a book and do a report on it. I read Ramona Forever…and hated it! It took me the entire school year to read this book. But in class we read Bridge to Terabithia by Katherine Paterson. It was about these two friends who created an imaginary world in the woods near their homes. It was probably the first book I read and wanted to read ahead with. I loved it and it was probably the first time a book ever made me cry too.
Since then I can’t even remember how many books I’ve read since then that have stuck with me. But some of them were:
- The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho
- Brian’s Song by William Blinn
- Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
- Woman Thou art Loosed by Bishop TD Jakes
- A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Willam Shakespeare
- Crushing by Bishop TD Jakes
- Not a Fan by Kyle Idleman
- Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen
- A wrinkle in Time by Madeline L’engle
- To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee
What book made you fall in love with reading? I’d love to know.
