Hey hey
So, I know it has been a while since I did a book review but I just finished Don’t Settle For Safe by Sarah Jakes Roberts and it was seriously good.
First of all, it was interesting that this book fell in line with a lot of the books I have read this year with the underlying theme of moving beyond fear and learning to thrive in spite of it.

It’s something that I am also learning. As I grow and mature in my relationship with my Abba I am better able to see what gifts He has given me and I can better relate to people. As someone who is awkward at best this is somewhat of a relief to me.I have a feeling she and I would get along with very well.
She talked about a lot of things but the thing that resonated with me the most was how over the course of time as she has grown in her relationship with God she has also become more confident in her gifts as well as in her relationships with others.
I feel like this book was written from a journal she kept during these seasons of her life and she included some of her personal entries. I especially liked the personal prayers she included.
Here are a few lines that stuck with me:

- “Your inner emotions and insecurities play a greater role in distracting you from bringing forth the gifts that are inside of you more than the external ones have.”
- “God has given you the divine strategy and capability to control your life. You don’t have to wait for people to understand you before you begin to develop.”
- “When you stop focusing on who God is in other’s lives you’ll find Him in your own.”
This will be added to the bookshelf because I can see myself reading it again.
