Are we Making Room?

“Are we preparing gifts of worship and devotion for the Savior of the world this Christmas season? Or are the only gifts we’re planning to give wrapped in thin paper? Is there room in your heart for God to write his story?” –  Make Room Christmas Devotional by Mark Hall of Casting Crowns

It’s officially the most wonderful time of the year!

It’s the time of year where we are supposed to focus more on God and family, but lately I don’t feel like that has been my main focus.

Christmas for me has always been less about the tree and the gifts, although I love putting up my tree, and more about celebrating the birth of my Savior.

There are only a few weeks until Jesus’ birthday. I want Him to know it’s His day. I don’t want to make it about me. I want to make sure that although we enjoy the gift giving part of the holiday, we make sure to remember why we celebrate.

Some ways I try keep Christ at the center of Christmas

  • Read the Christmas Story in Luke 1-2
  • Watch The Star with my niece
  • Listen to Francesca Battistelli’s Christmas albums (new and old)
  • Write a letter to Abba reflecting on the year thanking Him for all He’s done.

I was just thinking about this and I really want to be sure to make room for God in this season set aside for celebrating His birth because He came here for me. He lived for me and He died for me all because He loves me. And you.

Enjoy your holidays!!!
